Essential obligations consist of:
Investigative Science:
Conduct primary research in your area of expertise by determining, creating, and carrying out research projects in that area.
Take part in the post-doctoral fellow hiring process.
Mentor and advise post-doctoral fellows as well as associates, guests, and fellows who work together on various research projects.
Present scientific findings at significant international conferences
Instruction and Practice:
instruct in the diploma program and oversee the theses of diploma candidates.
Mentor and supervise M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in science
Take part in the diploma, M.Sc., and Ph.D. student selection processes as needed by the ICTP programs. Educate in ICTP’s international programs that are held both there and elsewhere.
Organization and Outreach of Science:
Form extensive partnerships with scientists in developing nations, ascertain their research requirements in fields connected to your own specialty, and create suitable suggestions for inclusion in ICTP initiatives.
Organize ICTP meetings, events in your own area of expertise, and external ICTP initiatives in your own field of study, mostly in developing nations.
Seek out and oversee solitary research awards. Take part in the initiatives run by the ICTP Partner Institutes.

IMPORTANT QUALIFICATIONS
INSTRUCTION
advanced university degree in material science, physics, or a similar field (Ph.D. or equivalent).
Experience at work
four (4) years or more of relevant professional research experience required, with a focus on computational material science for applications in sustainable energy or a similar discipline.
Proven expertise in the field of computational material science for applications related to sustainable energy
expertise in guiding and instructing graduate, undergraduate, and postgraduate students.
SKILLS AND COMPETITIONS
Capacity to work well in a multicultural setting while showing consideration and respect for differences.
outstanding analytical abilities. the capacity to gather, combine, and evaluate data from a range of sources.
Proficiency in communicating in English on intricate technical and scientific matters.
PARALOGUES
outstanding written and spoken English language skills.
DESIRABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Experience at work
a minimum of two years of relevant professional research experience, preferably gained in developing nations, and at an international level.
expertise in the planning, carrying out, and overseeing of scientific initiatives.
expertise guiding and/or instructing undergraduate and graduate students.
knowledge of creating and managing scientific training initiatives.
PARALOGUES
proficiency in Italian.
proficiency in one or more of the other UNESCO official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).

The pay scale at UNESCO consists of a base pay plus additional benefits, which could include, if appropriate: A pension plan, medical insurance, family allowance, 30 days of yearly leave, etc.
For this position, the beginning compensation is around $993,363.91 USD per year.
