Position Description

BACKGROUND:

  • One of the top crisis response organizations in the world, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps those afflicted by conflict and natural disasters recover and rebuild by offering life-saving aid. IRC works to protect people from harm at home and is involved in public health, education, livelihoods, women’s emancipation, youth development, and the protection and promotion of rights.

  • Midway through 1998, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) was registered in Uganda. It carries out rehabilitation efforts in the areas of health, education, economic development, and empowerment of women, as well as helping to address the refugee crisis in Southern Sudan. Aside from its main office in Kampala, IRC Uganda also maintains branches in Lamwo, Moroto, Kyaka, and West Nile.

WORKSHOP SCOPE:

  • The research assistant is in charge of making sure that information gathered from the mystery clients is thorough, accurate, and submitted to the main server.

  • The Research Assistants, under the direction of the Senior Project Office, will

  • Support the daily data collection from all the Bidibidi medical facilities and pharmacies that are a part of the mystery customer survey.

  • Interview mystery clients in-depth and record the conversations exactly.

PARTICULAR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support for data collection

  • Assist the mystery clients as soon as possible in correctly completing the mystery client survey form.

  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of the data gathered as well as the study participants.

  • assistance with the planning of the logistics and other necessities for data gathering.

  • Participate in the weekly research team debriefings to track progress.

  • to the senior project officer, compile weekly reports.

  • To learn more about the experience of being a mystery customer, conduct in-depth interviews with mystery clients.

  • Clearly transcribe the interviews that were captured.

  • assist in data collection, making sure the information is accurate and thorough.

  • ensuring that questionnaires are uploaded to the online server after being finished.

  • maintaining careful custody of all study materials and ensuring that the tablets are fully charged and secure before being used in the field.

  • Create weekly summaries and reports to communicate with the senior project officer.

Qualifications

  • a college degree or certification in social sciences or a closely connected field of study

  • 3 or more years of relevant experience, including data collection

  • skilled in using computers, Microsoft Office programs, including Word, and commcare data collection software

  • outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • English, Kakwa, and Aringa proficiency are essential.

  • Must be a strong team player and able to work with little supervision.
