French Government’s Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) Scholarship Program 2024 (Funded)

Since its launch in 2018, the Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) movement has garnered global support and attention from numerous highly skilled experts and students.

The purpose of this seventh call for applications from Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) is to accommodate at least forty early career researchers who would like to conduct research in France. The French Ministry for Higher Education and Research, together with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, provides funding for the programme, which is run by Campus France.

Researchers pursuing the subjects mentioned in the “Research Themes” section will receive support from the MOPGA 2024 Visiting Fellowship Programme for Early Career Researchers.

Requirements

  • Researchers from abroad who have less than five years of doctoral experience

  • There are no nationality limitations (except from France). Forty fellowships will be given out starting in September 2024 and will last for a year.

QUALIFICATION

People who meet the following requirements may submit an application:

  • Candidates who are not citizens of France

  • Researchers from abroad who have held a doctorate for fewer than five years are eligible (must have passed thesis defence between January 2019 and January 2024)

  • Researchers from outside who did not live in France for more than ninety days, from October 9, 2023, to January 9, 2024

Research Subjects

There are five main study themes that qualify:

  • Earthly networks

  • Changes in climate and sustainability

  • Change in energy

  • Environmental issues and their societal challenges

  • The health of people, animals, and ecosystems as a component of “One Health”

Benefits

Benefits of this fellowship include the following:

  • A monthly stipend of €2,500

  • The MOPGA Fellow will receive a 500 euro moving allowance,

  • A health insurance plan covering civil liability and assistance with repatriation

  • A complementary health insurance plan covering civil liability and assistance with repatriation after the Social Security registration process is complete.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • CV with a maximum of four pages listing your English-language publications

  • PhD Diploma (or PhD diploma certificate)

  • Your research supervisor’s CV from the French host institution, no more than two pages

  • A letter of recommendation from the French host organisation

  • Three maximum recommendation letters

  • Passport or identification

SCHEDULE

  • The application period begins on October 9, 2023, and closes on January 9, 2024.

  • By June 30, 2024: Results announcement

  • From September 2024 to (at most) December 2024: Arrival in France and the fellowship’s commencement
