They are seeking a mid-career journalist from, based in, and covering Sub-Saharan Africa who has an ambitious written story to tell a global audience as part of a partnership with the Financial Times. Aim high. You may anticipate seeing something like this on the front page of one of the major newspapers in the world.

They are searching for an excellent writer with some experience who can concisely and compellingly summarise a complex story in a way that is both universally appealing and relatable. The chosen Fellow will create a piece of long-form journalism, a regional economic or business story that appeals to FT’s international readership.

Eligibility

  • Open to Sub-Saharan African journalists in the middle of their careers who work in print, web, or multimedia reporting.

  • They are searching for an excellent writer with some experience who can concisely and compellingly summarise a complex story in a way that is both universally appealing and relatable.

  • They are especially interested in reporters with a great interest in business and international events, a global perspective, and astute reporting instincts.

  • The ideal candidate would be able to write persuasively and incisively about business, market, and economic issues. They would also possess great writing abilities.
